My hand was still pressed against his chest, the steady thud-thud of his heart echoing against the cold screens of the basement. The air was freezing, but Ateş felt like a furnace. Suddenly, a red light began to flash on the main monitor. A perimeter alarm. 🚨 My eyes darted to the screen. A dark figure was standing at the iron gates, draped in a long coat, their face obscured by the heavy rain.
"Who is that?" I whispered, my voice trembling.
Ateş's face went stone-cold. He reached over me, his arm brushing mine as he zoomed in on the console. My breath hitched. It was my father. It was Hayder. 😱
[Character Intro: Hayder — Mercan's father. A man of status who hides a dark secret: he stole the wealth and legacy that originally belonged to the boy from the fire, using the tragedy to build his own empire.]
"He wasn't supposed to be back until tomorrow," I breathed, fear clawing at my throat. "If he finds us here... if he sees the monitoring room..."

I watched the man on the monitor. Hayder. The thief who built his throne on my family's ashes. He didn't come here because he missed his daughter; he came because he felt the ground shifting beneath his feet. He knew someone was hunting him. 🐺
"He won't find anything I don't want him to see, Mercan," I rasped, turning her around to face me. I pinned her against the glowing console, my hands on either side of her waist. "But you... you are going to walk out there and play the part of the perfect, obedient daughter. And when I walk in, you will look at me like I am the man you've chosen to replace him. Because if you don't, I'll tell him exactly how much of his 'stolen' money I've already burned."
I gripped her chin, forcing her gaze to stay on mine. "Don't let your eyes wander. If he sees the truth in you, I'll make sure he sees the ghost of his sins right beside me. Are we clear, butterfly?" 👁️⛓️

I couldn't breathe. He was using me as a shield and a weapon against my own blood. We ascended the stairs, the darkness of the basement giving way to the oppressive gold of the foyer. 🏰
The doors opened. The smell of wet earth and expensive tobacco filled the room. Hayder stepped in, shaking his umbrella, followed closely by his loyal shadow, Saffet.
[Character Intro: Saffet — Hayder's right-hand man. He is the one who does the dirty work and knows where all the bodies are buried. He is suspicious, sharp, and loyal to a fault.]
"Mercan, my dear," Hayder said, his voice like sandpaper. He didn't even look at me; his eyes were scanning the room. "I heard a stranger had claimed this house through a debt buy-back. I didn't realize he was already living in it."

I felt Mercan tremble under my touch. I leaned down, my lips grazing her ear in a display of fake affection that felt dangerously real. "She wasn't just living here, Hayder. She was waiting for me," I said, my voice a low, terrifying growl.
I stepped forward, extending a hand that I knew Hayder would have to take. "I am Ateş. I believe you knew the boy who lived in the valley before the fire. The one whose family you 'helped' by taking over their assets? I'm here to settle the ledger."
Hayder froze. The color drained from his face. Beside him, Saffet's hand moved toward his waistband. I didn't blink. I had more cameras in this room than they had bullets. 📉

I looked at my father, then at Ateş. The air was so thick with tension it felt like the walls were closing in. Suddenly, a third person entered the foyer—it was Zeynep, looking pale and frantic.
[Character Intro: Zeynep — A relative who knows the family secrets. She has always been the voice of conscience, but she is terrified of Hayder's temper.]
"Hayder, you need to see this!" Zeynep cried, holding a charred piece of jewelry. It was the other half of the silver locket I wore. My heart stopped. 💔
Ateş's hand tightened on my waist. The look of pure, unadulterated suspicion in Hayder's eyes was enough to make me want to scream.
"You see, Hayder," Ateş continued, his eyes locked on my father. "You thought you took everything. But you forgot that ash is the perfect place to hide a secret. And I've spent ten years digging them up." 🦴🔥

The old man was terrified. I could smell the fear under his expensive cologne. He looked at me, searching for a trace of the child he once knew, but I gave him nothing but the cold, hard stare of a man who had seen the bottom of a grave.
"Dinner is served," I announced, a cruel smirk on my face. "Let's eat, Hayder. We have so much to discuss... like where exactly you hid the papers you stole from my father's safe."
